School Performance

We are proud of our pupils' achievements and the progress they make whilst with us.

The 2016-2017 academic year saw our second cohort of Year 6 pupils take the national tests for 11 year olds.  It was also the second year of the DfE's new, significantly more challenging tests for both Key Stage 1 and 2 and the revised framworks for the assessment of writing.  Once again, we couldn't have been more proud of the way our pupils conducted themselves.  They took everything in their stride knowing they had worked hard, were well prepared and proud of their achievements since joining our school family - many of whom had only been with us for a very short time.

Below is a summary of our official school results and comparisions with other schools.  More information can also be found in the DfE Performance Tables and OfSTED reports.

End of Key Stage 2 Results for 2017

At the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6) there were 25 pupils on roll with each pupil representing 4%.  Unfortunately, many of our pupils had only been with us for a short period of time having previously attended other schools both locally and further afield - some from other countries.  Two pupils arrived in the weeks leading up to the SAT tests.

National & Local Comparisons

Progress measures show that we were above Peterborough and in line with National averages.

We performed below the national averages for those pupils working at greater depth.

Phonics Results for 2017

Achievement in the phonics screening test at the end of Year 1 continues to be good although results show a small decline from previous years.

Year 173%
Year 250%
* Percentage of pupils reaching the required standard.

National & Local Comparisons

Phonics results in 2017 were below the national averages although have been in line with or above in all previous years.

Letters and Sounds’ forms the core of the phonics teaching and progression. Jolly Phonics supplements the resources used in the Early Years.  Phonics is taught daily and both Teachers and Teaching Assistants are well trained as phonics has previously been an area of focus for the school.

EYFS Results for 2017

Pupils are deemed to have reached a good level of development at the end of the EYFS (Reception Year) if they have achieved at least the expected level in the early learning goals in the prime areas of learning (personal, social and emotional development; physical development; and communication and language).

Good Level of Development (GLD)59%
* Percentage of pupils reaching the required standard.

National & Local Comparisons

Baseline assessments, which measure children's attainment on entry to our school, show that a large number start school below the levels expected for their age.

However, by the end of their first year at St Michael’s, the number of children who have reached age expectations has been in line with the Peterborough averages for the past few years.  In 2017, we were below the National average.
