WHOLE SCHOOL LEARNING - 13th to 17th July

Dear Parents and Carers,

With it being the last week in school, our children of St Michael’s Church School family would ordinarily be taking part in a range of transitional and reflective activities. With this in mind, the planning team have put together a selection of activities that will support children with this time of year both in home and at school.

Using the whole school time planning grid, please plan for your week and discuss with your children when they can complete each activity. As per previous weeks, some activities will require more support from an adult than others.

We would like for children to bring any work that they create, make and do into school with them in September- these will then form the basis for displays in classrooms and around the school. Please also email any amazing work to before Thursday 16th July (afternoon) so that these can be shared and celebrated in our final Collective Worship of the year on Friday 17th July.

We wish you a safe, happy and relaxing summer break and cannot wait to see you all very soon.

Kind regards,

Mrs Daulton and the Planning Team.

Wellbeing for Children and Families

More materials have been added to support schools and families with children’s wellbeing on the Home Learning Hub here:

There’s now a section called ‘Explaining the coronavirus to young children’ with resources including a new book by Nosy Crow, illustrated by Axel Scheffler (The Gruffalo); as well as the Children’s Commissioner’s Guide to Coronavirus.

There is also a wonderful resource, created by Strengthening Minds, an organisation based in London.  The Strengthening Minds Guide to Staying Home…In Style is a brilliant resource full of ideas, games, activities and resources for families with young children including a section on wellbeing and mindfulness.

Competitions and Events

Peterborough United Foundation are working in partnership with the EFL Trust to deliver a national initiative called the Joy of Moving Home School Festival.

Our school could be part of one of the biggest ever national initiative of its kind this May. There are likely to be hundreds of thousands of children taking part.

The Festival consists of a half day (afternoon) timetable of activities for children on the theme of the Joy of Moving.  This will be available in a digital pack to send to you  by email later next week.

The Joy of Moving games and activities are designed to inspire active lifestyles in children, aiming to teach children how to enjoy moving through play, and to help them develop positive habits for adulthood.

As part of the event, families will be encouraged to post social media content during the week.  This will all be captured at:
