🐧 Welcome to Puffins Class
This term, Puffins Class has been thoroughly enjoying their exciting topic on the Stone Age. Our learning began with a hands-on Wow Day, where children explored what life was like during this fascinating period. We’ve been investigating how Stone Age people lived, the types of settlements they built, how they hunted for food, and what daily life involved.
After the October half term, we’ll be diving into our next topic: Walking with Dinosaurs, with a special focus on Mary Anning and her incredible discoveries. As we journey through this prehistoric world, we’ll be exploring questions such as:
-Where did dinosaurs live?
-What did they eat?
-Why did they become extinct?
-What types of dinosaurs were there? Plus, we’ll uncover lots of fun and fascinating facts along the way!
In mathematics, we’ve started the year by strengthening our understanding of place value, before moving on to addition and subtraction. Children are learning to count forwards and backwards on a number line, partition numbers to support calculations, and begin using the column method. We’re placing a strong emphasis on problem solving and reasoning, which is a key focus in Year 3.
As we settle into our new classes and routines, we’re looking forward to a term full of curiosity, creativity, and growth.
