School Lunches

At St Michael's, parents are able to pre-order and pay for their child's meal by logging in to their SchoolGrid Account. If you haven't received your log in details contact the School Office.

All of our meals are freshly prepared by our amazing catering team using locally sourced produce and are both tasty and nutritious. The team work very hard to ensure that children who suffer with allergens such as Dairy, Soya, Egg, Gluten , etc... are catered for too.

Fussy eaters often thrive on school meals – many parents say their children have tried all sorts of foods in school that they refuse at home. They’re also a great way for children to improve their eating habits such as using a knife and fork and to learn about the social side of eating with their friends.

Schools don’t have to offer school meals at all if they choose not to.  However, at St. Michael's we have always believed lunchtimes should be an integral part of the school day, building on and promoting positive learning and social behaviours.

School meals have changed a lot since most parents were at school themselves – they’re tastier, healthier and a lot more fun!

Free School Meals

As of September 2014, children in Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a school lunch without cost following the introduction of the government's Universal Infant Free School Meal initiative.

Families who receive certain government benefits are also entitled to apply for free school meals for their child(ren).  If you would like to find out if you are eligible for free school meals, please click HERE. This is well worth doing – you can save hundreds of pounds each year and make sure your child’s having a good lunch.
